Altima 2996AVZ

by Kris Buttenberg
(Reno, NV)

The Eureka Altima vacuum is relatively light and easy to maneuver.

It looks good, for those of you like me that don't have a closet to put it in, and better yet, it works in cleaning the carpets.

The edge cleaner works well, but is only on one side. The attachments included a "Power Paw" which doesn't work at all, an extension tube the continually falls off the vacuum while in use, an extendable duster which falls out of its holder and doesn't work as well as a swiffer, and a suction hose which is not long enough when used for hard to reach cleaning.

The suction is good and the brushes work well for cleaning my medium looped carpet. Suction is also good enough to work on bare floors.

The Altima 2996AVZ vacuum has never damaged any of my carpet. The brush does however throw dirt, like cat litter, backward behind the unit on either surface.

After two years of use I have had to replace the belt three times, and the brush roller bearing fell apart with the replacement cost at $20 US plus shipping.

I clean the dust filter nearly every time I use the vacuum, but it comes with a second filter so you can swap them out while one is drying.

This is the fourth vacuum I have owned and it is the best so far; but I keep thinking there are better vacuums out there.

I paid around $100 with an instore coupon (list around $139). Overall, I have been pleased with this unit.
