Atex Approved Vacuum Cleaner

Best for Hazardous Areas

When you are dealing with hazards in the working environment, an ATEX approved vacuum cleaner works great in these conditions.
With the advancements in science and technology, the hazards in the working environments have increased.

And since every manufacturing process requires raw materials and leaves behind the waste, major work there includes cleaning of such areas.

The Atex directive includes mechanical and electrical equipments and protective systems which are in use in potentially dangerous atmospheres which may contain flammable gases, vapours or dusts.

Atex vacuum cleaners are used for cleaning in highly hazardous areas such as chemical and pharmaceutical plants, aircraft maintenance and petrochemical environments including gas and oil rigs. These vacuum cleaners are used for sucking up and separation of dust and debris in such dangerous areas.

Atex vacuum cleaners are of two types:

  • Gas zone

  • Dust zone

Gas zone Atex approved vacuum cleaners are those which suck up only harmful gases. Dust zone vacuum cleaners can suck up both hazardous gases and dust.

An Atex approved vacuum cleaner must have the following characteristics:

  • Explosion Proof for wet and dry applications
  • Ideal for material and debris recovery
  • Cost effective
  • Preferably absorb both gases and dust

Although the Atex rating index is intense and known for its scrutiny at times it has also been known for its biasness towards brand names. The atex index is however the true indicator of any vacuum cleaner’s functioning.

In spite of its applicability, the Atex index is not very popular among customers most of who do not even knows about the index’s existence. However, some vacuum cleaner brands like Dyson do display their Atex ratings for some of their high end products.

For those of us who do know about the Atex index, it becomes easier to choose our next vacuum cleaner without having to compromise on quality and even on price.

Some of the major companies which display their Atex ratings are Dyson, Panasonic, Hoover, Efbe Schott and even Electrolux.

Although one might criticize some of these companies for their hype, they do fairly well on the ratings adjudged by the index and the index authority.

So the next time you want to go for a vacuum make sure you check that it's an Atex approved vacuum cleaner.
