Beltless vacuum that excells at picking up pet hair and debris?

by Patty
(Ohio)

I have owned a Hoover Upright, self-propelled wind tunnel vacuum for roughly 3 or so years now.

I have had to replace the belt at least 10 times, and am so frustrated that I want to never have to deal with vacuum belts again!

It's a pity because my mother owns one of the old hoover upright models (more metal and less plastic) that she's owned for a good 20 years or so. She tells me she has replaced the belt maybe twice!!

I have multiple dogs, cats, and several birds, so I need a vacuum that will clean up hair, feathers, and occasional peanut shell.

It would help if the vacuum(s) in question don't cost a fortune (I wouldn't be able to buy it).

Thanks

Get a Miele vacuum!
by: Chris from GoVacuum.com

This belt is such a notorious problem on this model that we even shot a video to show how to replace it!

The belt for this model is on the top 10 list of most popular selling items on our site, and it's just a horrible design by Hoover.

There have been several manufacturers to attempt making a beltless vacuum cleaners, but as of today there are no vacuums worth recommending that will hold up at all. New technology however has been introduced that greatly reduced the belt changes on vacuum cleaners. There are several manufacturers now claiming lifetime warranties on their belts even!

If you have a majority of carpeting in the home, and upright is more suited for your needs, if it's a majority of bare floors then a canister vacuum (with an electric power head for the pet hair) would be more suited for your needs.

Miele vacuums are a little pricier then most other vacuums, however 20 years from now when the vacuum is still running, it would have paid for itself many times over.

A popular selling model on our site is the Miele S 7210 Twist, the entry level model of the Miele S7 series. This vacuum eats pet hair for breakfast! It also can be transferred from carpets to hardwood floors with the flip of a switch.

If you are looking for something a little less expensive then this, we also do a carry a new Hoover model with a similar feature.

I know you have a bad taste in your mouth about Hoover, but this one has been good so far; and Hoover is saying that the belt should last for the life of the vacuum.

If you prefer canisters over uprights, Panasonic puts a similar system in place on their canisters.

There are two models out currently that have this feature; the Panasonic MC CG887 and Panasonic MC CG885.

I would highly recommend getting a Miele vacuum, these are the best in the business, and will last you for 20 years with minimal maintenance issues.
I hope this helps you.

Disappointed with the Hoover Windtunnel
by: Kathy

I have a Hoover Windtunnel and have had to replace the belt several times. I've also had it in the shop twice at $125.00 each time because when it gets overheated, it will just cut off.

My mother has had her Hoover for over 20 years and has had to replace the belt maybe 3 times. I'm very disappointed in my vacuum and will never purchase a Hoover again.
