Bissell Healthy Home cleaner

I purchased the Bissell Healthy Home vacuum cleaner after comparing the specs of the other models in the store. I took it home, put it together, which was simple; just screw in one screw!

The Healthy Home vacuum was heavy and not self propelled at all, which I never really appreciated in my previous vacuums until now!

The power button is 'conveniently' located on the top of the handle, which was a smart thought, except that every time I pushed it forward, (which I had to use two hands because it's so heavy) I would hit the button numerous times and it would turn off.

I vacuumed my entire living room and kept looking at the brush through the see-through window at the top and noticed it would only move when I pushed the vacuum. I went to vacuum the hall and yet again had pushed the power button, and then saw the 'brush' button!!

You have to push a button to turn the brush on! Why? I have no idea. Bissell Healthy Home vacuums already have the safety feature that the brush will not rotate unless its in a reclined position so why the button?

I figured I would use it a couple more times and give it a chance, since it did pick up more stuff than my other Bissell bagless vacuum, until I went to clean my carpets. My new carpet cleaner picked up so much dirt and hair it was insane.

There was no way I was going to pay $250 for a vacuum that was heavy, hard to push, had an inconveniently located button that I was always accidentally pushing, and apparently didn't suck worth a darn. So back to Target it went!

I will be doing more research online and take the time before I purchase my next vacuum that's for sure!

The Worst Vacuum Cleaner
by: Vincent C

My wife and I purchased a BISSELL 5770C Healthy Home ,and I wanted to return it a few days later because it was too heavy and cumbersome. Well, we didn't return it because the suction was excellent, at least in the beginning. Over the course of 2 years, it would tip over often and was very poorly designed with no weighted balance and all top heavy, plus the turbo-brush was designed to fail with the mini-belt riding the sloped outside edge. The belt couldn't be replaced and you had no other choice but to purchase a new turbo-brush head. It's hard to explain. I contacted Bissell a few times and received no reply, so much for BISSELL's customer service dept. On one occasion after tipping over which it often did, the plastic housing cracked and only became worse, the unit was very poorly designed and was very deceptive in it's appearance as much as it looked solid, the plastic was hollow and thin, very cheaply made. Also, the BISSELL must be tilted for the main brush to engage, and one day it stopped working, just like that. After taking apart the main housing, (with a long set of Allen Keys) a regular screwdriver won't do I found one of the wires had unfastened itself and there was very little give in the wiring to begin with. Overall the BISSELL 5770C Healthy Home wasn't so healthy, in fact, it is a piece of junk. .I'll never buy another BISSELL product again.

I bought ours about 3 years ago and am pleased with its performance. Yes it is heavy and not fun taking up and down stairs but it works well. I like that I can turn the bursh on and off because of our hard wood floors. The only problem that I really have with it is that we have had to have the switch for the brush changed 3 times now because it will not turn on.

We purchased the Bissell Healthy Home vacuum cleaner due to the amount of hair from my guide-dog. It doesn't loose suction no matter how much hair it collects. The internal filter in the main canister, however, constantly needs cleaning of the little holes. It seems dust, dander and fine particles stick to it like glue.

I have to use a small brush and tapping it for it to get clean, thus, it causes you to touch and breath all the dirt.

We have had ours a year, overall happy and it stopped working over the weekend. Nothing in the manual makes it work. So, we paid a lot for it and a year later need another.

Bissell Healthy Home

I have had the Bissell Healthy Home vacuum for almost 3 years. Ehile it still does a decent cleaning job, there are definitely some things about it I don't like.

I knew it was heavy when I bought it, but I guess I didn't really consider just how 28 lbs. would be up and down stairs. I am no wimp either. I think the "no-tip" feature is interesting as this thing tips over rather easily.

Never sit the thing at the top of the stairs and then try to vacuum going down! We have lots of pet hair which I sometimes have to reach up in the dust cup and pull out. It won't fall out on its own and so I have dirt all over my arm.

There are a few other minor irritating features but not really worth mentioning. It still picks up quite a bit stuff every time I vacuum so guess I have to keep it until it breaks.

Bissell 5770 Healthy Home
by: Helen

I bought Healthy Home Bissell 5770 this week I did all my home work and was willing to pay more for a better vacuum. Yes it did everything that I read it would do.

My carpets looked great. Only I was dead by the time I was through. I had more then a work out. I tried all the different settings to make sure I had the vacuum set right for my carpets. I have a plush carpet but its not a shage ruge. It was the hardest thing I ever need to push on a ruge.

I had to take the vacuum back to the store because I new I was already dreading the next time I needed to vacuum. Look out people, it you take a vacuum back to a store after you tried it out, even if its the next day you will not get your money back, your lucky if you get store credit.

So now I'm looking for what vacuum should I replace this one with. I'm afraid unless it has a self propelled to it they all might be to hard or heavy for me to push. I would of kept it if someone else was willing to do the vacuuming, but there's only me.

Small cup of the Bissell 5770
by: Anonymous

I spent the money thinking the Bissell 5770 vacuum would be great. The cup is small and fills up very quickly. You can't just "dump" out the contents if you have a pet because the hair mats so you are digging around in there to get it out. Now the thing has completely died for the second time in a row. I would NOT recommend this vacuum to anyone.
