Buying a new vacuum cleaner - your suggestions?

I'm looking to buy a new vacuum cleaner and I'm having trouble figuring out which models would have the items that I'm specifically looking for.
Here's what I'm looking for the most:
1. One that doesn't need to be emptied or have the air filter changed often.
I have two long-haired cats and with the vacuum I currently have (a Shark Power Cruiser), I often have to dump the container when I'm only finished half of a room and usually cannot vacuum the entire house without cleaning the filter first.
I've been thinking of using a shop vac because it can suck up anything and not have to be emptied until the whole house is done.
2. One that is relatively easy to wield and is somewhat lightweight. (That's the trade off that using a shop vac would have.) Maybe one that straps to my back would work well?
3. One that isn't too loud. Right now I use earplugs when I vacuum because the Shark is so loud.
4. I don't know if it matters but we have mostly bare floors with two small carpets.

Hey, thank you so much for your question. I guess I should let you know that I'm very much excited to answer your queries, as it's my goal to help out people who are looking for not just the best but the right vacuum cleaners for them.
You're also making things a lot easier for me as you know what you definitely like.
So to your question, I would like to recommend the Dyson DC21 Stowaway Canister Vacuum.
Based on the criteria you've given, this superior vacuum cleaning machine has a very low — if there is — maintenance cost. First of all, it's basically bagless, and second, it has lifetime HEPA filters attached.
This means that you don't need to change them all throughout the life of the Dyson DC21. You simply have to wash them regularly and then place them back inside. Simple, isn't it?
It's also very lightweight. You wouldn't have problems carrying this in different portions of your home.
Making things a lot more convenient for you are the various tools that you can use together with Dyson DC21. This can include the crevice tool, which allows you to reach places that are quite difficult to clean.
As for the noise, you'd be surprised as to how quiet this can be. In fact, among other Dyson models, this is one of the quietest. This way, you can have more peaceful cleaning time for yourself, and you can already get rid of your ear plugs.
Most of all, this machine is highly effective in cleaning different types of surfaces. The brush bar, which is attached to it, can be turned off so you don't end up plucking the fibers of your carpets when you're cleaning.
You also mentioned that you have some cats with you.
Luckily, the Dyson DC21
is extremely efficient in removing pet hairs in various surfaces, even in upholstery.
This is so you'll be able to minimize the tendency of developing allergic reactions. The filters too can trap even the smallest particles, giving you 150 times cleaner air inside your home.
The turbine head and the Root Cyclone technology can superbly suction dusts without having the need to change your tools all the time.
Hopefully, my suggestion helps you a lot. Good luck on your quest.
