Dirt Devil Ultra Vision

by Barry Miller
(Harrisonburg, VA)

First I have been a very loyal Dirt Devil user for 15 years or so. There was no finer upright vac made for the money. The bag in swivel glide simply the best.

That comment changed with the bagless Dirt Devil Ultra Vision vacuum that I just returned to Walmart after 2 uses without the box and raised enough stink that Walmart refunded my money. I also wrote a letter to Dirt Devil to which I got a no reply response that was not acceptable.

Now I vacuum at least weekly and largely what I get out of my carpet is dust which will immediately clog the screen and foam filter. How much dust? About 2 tablespoons out of 1300 sq foot of carpet. Not much and then its wash the foam filter time with a 24 hour drying period. This totally unacceptable and without warning.

Now it's the fault of paper bagless vacs which is not new. All vacs where paper bagless until around the late 60's. Up till then they used a cloth bag that you had to dump.

Anyway Dirt Devil was one of the last to change to bagless so I guess their management decided to follow & not lead. I have several houses and I have one relatively new swivel glide left and then it's off to the leading national bagged brand.

dirt devil vision self- propelled
by: Annette

I have had the Dirt Devil Vision self-propelled vacuum cleaner for 8 months and started really hating it in 3 or 4. The design of the vacuum is very poor. It really has TERRIBLE suction- it's so poor that the "paw" attachment in unable to spin.

The little dust that accumulates in the cup, clogs up the filter (hepa?) at the top of the dust cup where the air is drawing in and becomes a mat of dust that the air has trouble penetrating.

So after cleaning one room, I find myself turning off the vacuum and banging on the cup with the hose attachment (helps with the frustration!!)to make the "felt mat" of dust fall into to the bottom of the cup which I then have to empty to continue or it will instantly re-clog the air intake again. It has been very annoying to operate, and frustrating in that it really doesn't clean anyway (wasting my time).

When I contacted the company, they told me to take it in for service (thank you). Now, the self-propelled feature is not working and the beater brush does not turn, so now it doesn't even pick up anything to make that nice felt mat that I am so fond of. It was cheap - $99 - but it's CHEAP!! I absolutely loath this vacuum.

Dirt Devil Vision Cyclonic with Power Hand Tool
by: Anonymous

Had the Dirt Devil Vision Cyclonic vacuum for one week. It seemed to do a nice job cleaning, but the pedal broke off! Normal pressure to release it so i could vacuum. VERY DISAPPOINTED.

The pedal should not have broken off so easily. I also noticed the attachments do not stay on the vacuum. I am constantly having to pick them up. I am returning today and will NOT be getting another one.
