DC14

by Cindy
(MA)

The Dyson DC14 is absolutely the worst investment in a vacuum cleaner I have ever made.

It doesn't pick up anything with out going over and over and over and over and then picking the vacuum up and putting it on top of the lint to get it to suck it up.

I have regular carpet, no high pile or anything like that, and the DC14 doesn't clean it.

The hose doesn't stretch at all without the base of the vacuum slamming into you or the wall. The floor attachment isn't worth anything as well.

I would not, have not recommended this vacuum to anyone. I have to say, my Sears vacuum was heads and tails over this one.

DC14

I am not totally happy with my Dyson DC 14 vacuum cleaner. I had it for a few years.

The plastic guides that hold the removable pieces in place are breaking. Granted I have kids that also use this machine and they aren't gentle, but this machine is not as durable as I would like.

The worst thing is that this DC 14 machine likes to overheat. It has done it since it was new and finally after putting up with this for a few years I took it into a service center (closest one 70 miles away) and they cleaned it out and put in new filters and it is still doing it, even worse that before.

When it overheats it just turns off and you have to wait for it to cool down to vacuum again. I have 100 sq. ft. of carpet on each level and it will shut down at least three times on each level before I get done. That doesn't even count when I want to do the furniture.

I will also agree with another review that you cannot vacuum under furniture, unless it is really high off the floor.

DC14 from Dyson

by Tania Wilson
(Houma, Louisiana)

I absolutely love my Dyson DC14 vacuum cleaner. I have not had any problems with it and the suction is great.

I have a black lab that I have to keep after and it surely does its job by picking up his hair. I actually had a demonstrator come to my house last night to demonstrate an extremely expensive water vac.

She decided to "dog" my Dyson the whole time. She made me vacuum with my Dyson DC14 in a spot and then went over it with her vacuum to show me how much the Dyson missed.

Well, guess what, after she left, I vacuumed over the area that she did with her vacuum and got more dirt up - so her extremely expensive vacuum did not get all the dirt out of the carpet like she stated.

Thanks but no thanks, I will keep my DC14 from Dyson!

DC-14

by Jan

I have had a terrible experience with my Dyson DC14 vacuum. I had it 3 years and the clutch was stripped.

I took it for servicing and $190 later it barely picks anything up. In addition, the repair company replaced the Hepa filter and charged me $40.

When I asked about the supposed lifetime Hepa the repair company told me that was not true and they had to be replaced every 2-3 years.

That did not sit well with me and I looked in the documentation I received with the vacuum. I did not find any warranty on the Hepa in it.

I contacted Dyson and after no response to emails (I emailed 3 times in a month) I called the customer service number and they basically called me a liar (there was no claim that it was a lifetime Hepa) and said that the Hepa did not last more than a couple of years.

After a few weeks I finally saw that on the vacuum it had the words "Lifetime Hepa, No filter replacement costs". Again I contacted customer service and they were going to have the manager call me within a week.

It has now been two weeks with no response from him. I did however, receive an email from some other customer service representative that said "Lifetime" is the life of a vacuum.

So, from all of this I have learned that the life time of a $600 vacuum is 3 years and that Dyson is not a reputable company.

I will never do business with them again and I tell anyone I know that is looking for a vacuum not to consider the Dyson.

Dyson DC 14

I PURCHASED THE DYSON DC 14 VACUUM, AND I AM TOTALLY NOT HAPPY. IT DOESNT FIT UNDER ANYTHING, THE HANDLE THAT YOU RELEASE, WHAT A JOKE, THIS AWKWARD PIECE OF CRAP YEAH 499.00, WHAT A SUCKER I WAS.

IT IS SO DIFFICULT TO USE, IT'S MIND BOGGLING. NOW LETS GET TO THE CORD, YOU CAN NOT I MEAN CAN NOT USE JUST A LITTLE BIT OF CORD, YOU HAVE TO HAND RELEASE ALL OF THE CORD IN ORDER TO RELEASE THE HANDLE.

IT'S GREAT THAT IT HAS A VERY LONG CORD, BUT YOU HAVE TO WRAP IT ALL UP WHEN YOUR DONE...

SO DO I RECOMMEND THIS DYSON DC 14 VACUUM CLEANER OR ANY DYSON VACUUM? ABSOLUTELY NOT.

IF YOU WANT TO MAKE SURE YOU RUN THE DC 14 THEN TEST IT IN THE STORE AND DO ALL THE RELEASING POSSIBLE, THEN DECIDE IF YOU STILL WANT IT.

IF YOU DON'T TEST IT, YOU'LL BE STUCK WITH A VERY EXPENSIVE VACUUM, WHICH IS NOT WORTH WHAT I PAID AND AM VERY VERY SORRY. NEXT SPRING IT WILL BE AT MY YARD SALE.
