Dyson DC05

by Niamh Keogh
(Co. Kildare, Ireland)

I've had my Dyson DC05 vacuum cleaner (which I had wanted forever and a day) for about 4 years and it totally gave up on me yesterday.

The suction was fantastic for the first few weeks. I cleaned out all the filters as instructed, and the suction just lessened each time.

We got a small cheap vacum cleaner free with our washing machine, and the suction was a hundred times better than the Dyson DC05.

Within the first year, we had to call Dyson and have the hose and handle replaced! In fairness, their customer service was fantastic - couldn't have been more helpful.

We need a new one now, but it most certainly won't be a Dyson. - Sorry to all the lovely people at Dyson.

How to fix it yourself
by: Phill

If the motor is burnt out in a DC05 Dyson (this happens if you don't empty it and let the filters clog up) then there is a great step by step guide that shows you how to replace it yourself.

It's the Dyson canister vacuum
by: Tomaz

Thanks for sharing, Niamh.

I just wanted to note that the Dyson DC05 vacuum cleaner is a canister model in is available in Europe and not in the USA.

The canister models are typically stronger in suction so it's disappointing to see the DC05 perform so poorly.
