Dyson DC07 Upright Vacuum

by J Coleman
(Layton, Utah)

I purchased the Dyson DC07 upright vacuum cleaner believing the advertising that it never loses suction. The truth however, is that it does lose suction.

I used it for roughly 6 months and at first it was terrific, even a bit too strong; then it stopped working as well. I thought there may have been a clog in the lines somewhere that I was unable to find so I decided to take it in for repairs and a "clean out".

This is where the advertising begins to fall apart. It was very difficult to find someone who worked on these machines. I finally ended up taking it into a Sears store.

They cleaned the machine and told me it was fine. "Fine" meant that it worked exactly as it had when I took it in for servicing, but now I also had a $100.00 service bill to pay.

I will never buy a Dyson again. Now I keep it in the basement for quick clean up jobs.

Disappointed DC24
by: Anonymous

Like other reviewers, I feel that it was great at first. However, it has been a year and I now walk behind it picking up the clumps of dust that are left behind. I am amazed how a company can charge so much for so much cheap plastic!!

My Dyson07 teal

I have been disappointed overall. The hose is powerful and good for sucking up things but sweeping floors, it seems like it misses a lot of stuff that it should get. I do like the removable parts to check clogs....yes they do happen.

Dyson DC07 All Floors
by: Anonymous

I have had my Dyson DC07 All Floors for a few years now. It is the purple one. I love mine! Never had a problem with the suction or anything. It will suck up anything (and it has!). The hose and the plug are the longest and reach the farthest than any other vacuum that I have had. The only thing I would say is the attachments are sort of a pain to use and it isn't a light vacuum either. Also it is sort of bulky. But these things are minor things to me because of how well it cleans. I bought a refurbished one on Ebay for $269 with free shipping and it was the best money I ever spent! That was about 4 years ago. I have tried other vacuums as well. I also tried the Dyson Ball (I think it is the DC24 and hated it!). I also have the Shark Navigator and it doesn't compare. All in all I love my Dyson!!

The Dyson Dc07 is the biggest piece of hellishly overpriced junk vacuum I have ever used. it is clumsy, the attachments are very hard to use. The quality is poor. I read other reviews on this web site that stated it has good suction.Man they must have never owned a machine with good suction. Do not waste money on anything Dyson makes.

Dyson DC07
by: Michelle

I purchased my Dyson DC07 vacuum just two years ago. I have found a split in the hose twice now. I have had to have the hose replaced, for the second time now (under warranty, thank god). However, it has continued to lose suction.

Upon inspection, i have discovered that the filter and canister for the filter were completely plugged. The filter came clean but the canister didn't. Now i have contacted dyson and they will not replace the filter canister, even though I have a five year parts and labour warranty.

I have chosen to sell my Dyson DC07 and buy a vacuum i can depend on and doesn't require constant maintenance.

Dyson DC07 The Kit
by: Anonymous

Loved my Dyson DC07 The Kit at first, after having it for two year it started losing suction. I maintained it and would clean the filters. Never messed with the hepa filter since it is called a LIFETIME hepa filter. Well that's a joke for one!

In other reviews I see it says with the Dyson DC07 you must replace it every two years, well then maybe it shouldn't say LIFETIME on it! Anyways I called Dyson a year ago and they told me since I did not have my receipt I can't use the warranty. I called the store where purchased and there was no way for them to look up a receipt for me since it had been so long. Now 3 years later the motor has blown! I called Dyson and still they will do nothing!

I swear I kept my receipt but can't find it for the life of me! I'm still supposed to have 2 years left on the warranty. And they also won't go off of the manufacture date since apparently the thing was 2 years old when we bought it. First of all how was I to know that??? I bought this Dyson DC07 brand new in 2006! It's not my fault it sat in the store for 2 years!! Nothing makes me more mad then that right there and the piece of junk sitting in the closet!

Dyson DC07 does not live up to its hype
by: Anonymous

Within a year or two of owning my Dyson DC07 vacuum, the noise level increased and increased until now, we cannot use it without ear plugs.
The suction decreased, particularly with the small attachment use.

Today, the bin fell off taking with it the "permanent filter apparatus. Lo and behold, the gasket was torn apart in three pieces and the filter itself was crumbling apart. So much for "Lifetime" filter.

As for cleaning the bin, just tapping the sides or wiping it down doesn't do it. Dirt adheres to the inside underneath all those little holes. I have to take toothbrush to it!

The pre-motor filter which is supposed to only need changing every six months has to be changed out every month. I had to buy a second one for this to the tune of $25.00.

So now the question remains, can I get the "permanent filter" replaced so I have a functioning vacuum cleaner until I can buy myself a decent one. Oh, the original vacuum cost me over $500 in 01/2005.

Dyson DC07
by: Just Mike

I bought my yellow Dyson DC07 vacuum cleaner from a lady that thought it was to heavy. Got it for a good price to. Don’t you people try them out in the stores before you buy it? I love mine and take care of it.

You need to CLEAN you filters on the side and on the top of the motor. Also clean the hair from the brushes to get the maximum power of cleaning you can. Yes, I am a guy and maybe it is a guy’s vacuum. But it has cleaned the best out of all I have used, and you throw away the dirt as soon as you are done with it so you are ready to use it next time. Your general Maintenance on any vacuum will make them last longer.

If you no longer like your Dyson, then give it to Goodwill, I am sure some one would LOVE to buy it for a good price.

Dyson dco7 teal & lavender color

thought i was so smart and was buying the best. ha conned by the best is more like it. also had the tip break off the bottom door and the whole cylinder costs $50. to replace. also the holes in the "cyclone cylinder" plug up with dirt and we all know what that does for suction. they get a lot of free advertisement from me.

i share my experience whenever i see someone looking at a dyson cleaner or wander into the vacuum cleaner area of a store and a clerk wants to help me. The Dyson DC07 is a very overpriced piece of plastic junk. next time i buy it will be a cheap throw away. they work just as well and when it quits performing as it should, my pocketbook doesn't feel as big a sting.

I got this model because i have pets and dyson is supposed to be the best. the suction is good and for the most part its easy to use except for the hose attachment, dosent reach very far and is kind of a pain to put back.I spent $475. on sale. less than 3 months later the foot pedal broke for no reason it just got stuck. i think these vacuums are over rated and i have read more bad than good on them. what is a good vacuum out there?

Dyson DC07
by: Catherine

My Dyson DC07 was a Christmas gift 5 years ago, I think it is the best gift i ever received, i use it every day or almost and it is as good as the day i got it. i have three dogs and two cats and my rugs come up like new every time. the only part i ever had to replace was the hose catch because I dropped it down the stairs and chipped the corner of it.

I would recommend this to anyone, Dyson costs more but it does a great job and in the long term you save hassle from NO suction machines and money not buying expensive bags that get thrown away..

I have a DC08 and have the same problems. It is very difficult to manouvre and doesn't suction that well. I think it is a highly overrated product!

Parts break
by: Anonymous

We have had the DC07 for about 8 years, after the first year the carpet attachment broke, then a year later the plastic bottom where you empty the dirt out of broke and then about a year ago the hose came apart. This past weekend the vacuum stopped working after using it for about 10 minutes, it overheats, you have to let it sit for about 1-2 hours and then you can use it again. The suction is good but the vacuum parts are made very cheap.

I also have a Dyson and do not like it. It is very heavy and I also hate fighting to get the tube out of and back into it's housing. I paid 600.00 for mine!
