Dyson DC15 Animal

by Kathleen
(New Lenox, Illinois, USA)

I purchased the Dyson DC15 Animal vacuum not because I have animals but because my two year old has bad asthma. And ever since I have been using it he HAS been doing better, however, I am not happy with the product at all.

My first DC15 Animal which I had for about 3 months before it started showing signs of a problem. When I would put the handle back into the upright position it would shut off, it made using the attachments impossible.

I called Dyson and got NO WHERE with them. Finally, I went back to Lowe's and they exchanged it for me because at least they were standing behind their products.

SO, here I am 3 weeks later and my "new" Dyson is already not working properly. This one will NOT shut off. I pressed the red button and used my DC15 Animal as normal when I went to turn it off the swutch no longer worked.

So I unplugged it, and now that is how I need to turn it on and off because again Dyson customer service is not helping me at all.

I feel disappointed. I feel like it is an expensive machine and it is not even worth the money for being a good solid product, but if it is helping my son it is worth every penny.

I just hope no one else is having the issues I am.

Actually, a central vac system can be a lot worse unless you put it into your garage. I am a salesperson who sells both central vacs as well as Dyson. A central vac has a very large cannister that is constantly putting a lot more dust into your home than a dyson. Quality wise, the dyson is 99% of the time more effective than a central vac. Plus with the central vacs you have an extremely long hose that you must drag around your house causing paint removal on corners, baseboards etc.

Install a central vacuum system for less than the cost of a Dyson

Dysons do an adequate job for people with allergies and asthma but a central vacuum system is the only 100% dust free way to clean. Allergists often recommend central vacuum systems. Most people think they are too expensive or too difficult to install. My son installed one in his existing home and he said it was really not very difficult.
