Electrolux EL7020B Canister

I rarely buy vacuum cleaners, but with my allergies, I really needed to get with the times and buy a modern unit. Uprights are easy to use, but you can't get under the furniture with them, get into tight corners or the edge of the wall. It was time for a canister type vacuum.

I did a lot of studying on the current models for all different brands. Canister types are less plentiful than uprights, and more expensive on average.

The really solid-as-a-brick brands: Riccar, Aerus, Miele and Sebo are EXTREMELY EXPENSIVE: $700.00 into the $1,500.00 range for a canister vacuum! Maybe they do last 20 to 30 years, but I can't afford that right now.

Then I saw the Electrolux EL7020B at a local department store, where it was demonstrated for me. It was small, light, quiet, had excellent suction and excellent filtration due to the special "S" type bags, HEPA filter, and sealing system for the filter door.

The retail price was $499.00, but I found the unit at another store for $398.00 and bought it. You can find discounts on Electrolux on the internet, or shop around your local stores.

Note: this is not possible on the super "high end brands" as they are sold through special dealers only, either at retail price or a very small discount.

I am very happy with the performance...true it is not a unit built entirely of steel like vacuums made years ago, but what is? The unit works very well, is attractive to look at, and stores easily too in addition to the features mentioned above.

My allergies have subsided noticeably since the carpeting and tile floors are cleaner with this new unit. I highly recommend this unit and the other Oxygen 3 units from Electrolux. Thank you.

The red Electrolux EL 7020B
by: Susan

My mother and grandmother had Electrolux cannister vacuum cleaners and swore by them. I bought the EL 7020B at Sears and within a few months the power cleaner attachment broke. It has continued to break down for the past three years; so often that I use the floor cleaning attachment even though it snapped off and I have it duct taped to the pipe.

When I went to an authorized Electrolux dealer to complain, they told me this model is a pseudo-Electrolux and they would not stand behind it. Apparently the name Electrolux was purchased, allowed to be put on this model sold at Sears, and considered a deal because it's under $1000! I would not buy this model if you are stretching your budget to try to get a good vacuum that will last.

A great vacuum for the money
by: Sam

I also have an Oxygen3 Ultra canister vacuum. It is more than up to the task of cleaning my house. I would also like to comment that people seem to think that the "S" bags are expensive and hard to get. They are available at any Sears Dept. store, and all Lowe's Home stores, as well as through regular dealers, and on EBAY, there are good generic "S" bags for a considerable discount, as well as discounts on the HEPA filter.
