Electrolux Oxygen Cleaner

by Tatiana Sragar

I find the Electrolux Oxygen vacuum cleaner a bit overpriced compared to the Hoover models doing exactly the same.

What I like most:

  • the variable automatic power suction that you can also set to high or low
  • the fact that the handle is light and does not pull my hand even if all controls are installed on the handle
  • the vacuum is compact and light, easy to maneuver

What I do not like:

  • the electric cord is toooo short; now with bigger houses, they should think on adding a bit to the length
  • the fact that there is no way to attach the floor brush to the back of the canister

However, there is a piece of plastic on Electrolux Oxygen that indicates that a possibility exits; however, I still have to carry the floor brush on my third hand or make a bit of exercise to get it from where ever I left it behind.

Worst Ever Vacuum
by: Carolyn R.

I use to sell Electrolux vacuums and loved their products. After 22 years my old Electrolux died and I decided to buy the Electrolux Oxygen EL6988E. It is the worst vacuum cleaner I have ever owned in my entire lifetime and I will never buy another Electrolux again as long as I live. Their products have gone straight downhill. The Oxygen is not the easiest vac to operate and it is almost impossible to manuever under beds or furniture. The bar beater is heavy and bulky and therefore does not go under the bottoms of kitchen or bathroom cabinets or the refrigerator. Large wheels make it hard to pull, turn or push.
The hose is definitely not flexible as stated. It has caused me to fall twice and trip several times. The assessory tools do not stay on the handle and keep falling off. Also the tools are designed to stay stationary on the rod so they don't turn and you cannot manuever them to go where you want them to go. After doing one floor, I have to rest because my back, arms and hands hurt from trying to manuever thie vacuum. What a mistake it was to buy this machine.

Electrolux deep clean oxygen, $499 from Lowe's
by: Lyuba

The Electrolux deep clean oxygen vacuum cleaner itself is beyond this world, however, the technical specifications didn't live up to our expectations!

I'm taking Summer courses at Grad School, came home, (purchased a vacuum yesterday), unpacked, assembled, vacuumed... works wonders, REALLY great...but...only for a bit more than 10 min... after that, the vacuum just shut down by itself,

I guess, the motor burned or something... maybe it was just my tough luck, but, guess what, when I went to Lowe's for return, the TWO twin-alike brothers were there with boxes labeled "DEFECTIVE UNIT"... as my son and I found out, the product itself was too old to be on the shelves, it was made in Hungary in 2001!

I guess, it is all depends on quality, so to speak, "if it was made on Monday or Friday or during the week (which, let's face it, truly the best)...

LOVE IT

This thing really sucks (in a good way). I got it for a steal at Costco. My carpets have never looked better. It's quiet also. I would recommend this vacuum, but don't pay full price.

Electrolux Oxygen EL6988E
by: Betty

Piece of [junk]. Doesn't pick up dog fur from hardwood never mind carpet. Awkward and clumsy design. Very small bag and short cord.
My ten year old Kenmore is a much better vacuum.

Electrolux REL-7000A Oxygen3 Canister Vacuum
by: Connie Beaty

This is a DEFECTIVE MACHINE!!! I bought it from Overstock.com (refurbished) on 3/9/2009. It worked about 3 months then quit! sucking stopped but the motor was running. I called electrolux customer service (since it has a 2 year warranty), they told me to take it to an authorized Electroux dealer in Nashville, TN.

I did that and they kept it from 9/2009 thru 12/2009, waiting on the computer board part to fix the problem. I took it home and it worked one minute and failed again with even more problems. I took it back again to the dealer. he said it was a defective computer board and that electrolux would send one that had been updated/revised. I waited another month.

I took it home again and the same thing happened with the first use 12/26/2009. I took it back to the dealer again, he was very disappointed and said that he was going to ask Electrolux to give me a NEW and different model from the defective one. on 1/14/2010 I picked up the new/different model electrolux. I hope it works!! if not I will NEVER buy an electrolux product again!!!

Don't buy Electrolux Oxygen
by: Abby

What a nightmare Electrolux's Oxygen vacuum is. Soon after we got it, the hose began spitting out junk because the light alerting you that the bag was full never went on. The entire wand was stuffed full, and it was almost impossible to get it out.

We should have known it was a lemon then. But no, we had to wait five months after our purchase for another piece to break connecting the wand to the beater. So that's two things wrong with it within five months.

And lo, Electrolux couldn't even get a replacement part to our vendor because I guess its Chinese factory didn't have any on hand. It's been over six weeks and we still don't have the vacuum repaired, despite talking to Vanessa, Adam and Brenda of Electrolux. We demanded a refund for this lemon but all we heard from them is it is not there problem.

Well it is their problem because anyone who buys this machine is making a big mistake.
