Eureka 4870mz vac

by The shopper
(Nashville,TN.)

The Eureka 4870mz is a great vacuum for the money!! The suction is 2nd to none in this price class.

It weights 21lbs so I think it's not really that heavy. We also have a Hoover windtunnel bagless.

The eureka has a little more suction and is a lot easier to use. It is also much quieter than the Hoover. Like it very much!!

Eureka Boss SmartVac Pet Lover 4870RZ
by: Connor

For the money, this is a great buy! Very powerful suction and really cleans the carpet.

There's only a few things that are bad about it. One is the weight, my gosh this thing weighs a lot for something made of plastic.

Two the clunky height controls, and three the very short hose.

It can also tend to leave a dusty smell after vacuuming.

Overall this is a great vacuum for the price but you better have a lot of carpet cause that's what it's hungry for.

great vac but...
by: Anonymous

I too have the same problem, dust - it vac's great except it seems always dusty...when you tear it apart you pull some hair off the sides that are nasty but its not really clogged?!!! As soon as I get time I am going to take it to someone to check it over, and when I get a couple extra hundred bucks I will probably go buy a new sweeper (this one is a couple months old)

model 4870 - 'The boss/Smartvac'
by: Rick

We bought the Eureka 4870 Smartvac vacuume because of high ratings in consumer reports; I should have realized something wasn't right when it came with an extra belt for the rotating rug brush. I noticed a smell after the first few vaccuming attempts, that went away.

It has excellent suction, so I didn't notice that the brush had stopped spinning--the belt had overheated and shredded. I replaced the belt and the same thing promptly happened. I replaced the belt again, and this time the belt stopped grabbing the brush drum to make it spin, on all but the thinnest of carpets or wood floors.

I took the vacuume to the local authorized Eureka repair shop, who told me that all Eurekas are a piece of trash, and I should buy one of his other brands. (He was unhelpful to the point of being a jerk--and this is the authorized service man?)--so I called the Eureka company, probably a day after a year after it's purchase, and they were minimally helpful, since the warranty had expired, despite problems in retrospect from the very beginning.

Yes, it has a HEPA filter, and yes, the powerpaw is a great gadget for cleaning sofa cushions, but NO, between the lousy performance/design, and nonexistant service and support, I will never buy another Eureka vacuume cleaner again.

The Eureka 4870Z is the best
by: Amy

The 4870MZ is the best vacuum I have ever owned. I have a Bissell that is only 2 years old. Out of curiosity, I vacuumed our bedroom before using my new Eureka.

We have cats & dogs (3 of each), and they all shed. I was amazed that my Eureka 4870MZ pulled up so much hair that the bag was almost 1/2 full with only 1 use.

My Bissell is a bagless, which I will never own again. It seems that every time I vacuumed, I had to go back & dust the furniture.

That doesn't happen with this Eureka model. I love this vacuum.

Dust Spitter
by: Anonymous

We purchased this vacuum and it does have incredible suction. The problem is it started spitting out an incredible amount of dust too. The lower part of the vacuum was always coated in dust and it would even have a pile collected when I turned it off. I thought that it must be clogged so I searched and did find a clog. Next time I used it, it did it again. No clog anywhere. The filters were dirt free, no hose blockage. Now I'm forced to return it to the store even though I got it over the internet from Target. Target was great by the way. I wish I could get great suction without the dust! They said they aren't available at Target anymore. I would be afraid to buy another one anyway.
