Eureka Optima 430

by Alex Spillane

I recently purchased the Optima 430 Series light weight vacuum cleaner by Eureka. My wife wanted a light easy to handle model.

This thing is impossible to push on carpet and has no height adjustment. The small filter clogs within minutes and is difficult to clean.

The brush roller stops and the indicator light comes on for little reason. There was a strong burning smell and it left black marks on my carpet.

It is likely that this is a quality problem and the product is well engineered. However, after wasting time shopping, assembling and returning I am less than happy.

Eureka at its best!
by: sunshine state

Have owned this for over a year and up to now it has performed very well, but with limited use.
Have one carpet in bedroom and office area and a couple of rugs in Family room.
My problem is that with the slightest load on the brush, the light will come on and the brush stops.
Have cleaned brush numerous times and there is nothing on brush to put that kind of a load on brush motor. Did take cover off and inspect belt, motor and self lubricated bearings. Nothing abnormal except brush motor is very small and cheap. The other problem is with the exhaust location. Being directly in the cleaning path, exhaust blows dirt all over. You have to angle handle close to the floor to avoid blowing dirt around. Would not recommend this to anyone.

Eureka Optima 431DX
by: Marti

This lightweight, compact upright vacuum has exceptional suction and cleaning ability. For small areas, Rvs etc. - this is a wonderful bet.

BUT... I have purchased 2 of these vacuums and on both the wheels wore down the plastic hubs that they are attached to and the wheels fall off. There is no way to repair this problem.

Although I love my Eureka Optima 431DX vacuum cleaner I would not purchase it again since they only last 1 yr before the wheels wear down.

Has issue but I like it
by: Anonymous

I too really like the Eureka Optima but it is with it's faults. The suction is great. But the brush does have a tendency to stop working when challenged. I have found the way around it is to turn off the bar for a few minutes by choosing the bare floor option. The filter is not the easiest to clean. I just make sure to clean the filter after each use. For me, this vacuum cleaner is a secondary one I mainly use on stairs and rugs. It was not expensive. So for the money, the Eureka Optima is worth it.

Is it a coincidence?....
by: John Brown

... that two days after I bought this POS, a friend chuckled and replied "I hope you mailed in the warranty." Exactly two weeks (and one use) later, I am picking out clogs from within the vac, turn the power on... and there is no suction.

I am better off using my shop vac than this alleged home appliance.

Eureka Optima

I have owned 3 of these. Would be a great vacuum cleaner other than the fact that the wheels are on a flimsy plastic shaft that has broken on every one I've owned. There's no way to repair it yourself being as it is plastic.

I know Eureka has to be aware of this problem. I know that I didn't just happen to buy "three" lemons! Due to this repetitive problem, I would not recommend the Eureka Optima to anyone.

I LOVE my Eureka Optima 430. I can't believe what it picks up. I have dogs and it works wonders. I love it being lite weight and the filter is a breeze to clean. Thanks Eureka!!!!!
