Eureka Optima Lightweight Dirty filter

I bought the Eureka Optima Lightweight vacuum cleaner without doing my homework and boy, have I learned my lesson.

I must admit that the first two or three times I used it I loved it. It's small and easy to handle and there's no question that it has great suction.

Until, that is, it doesn't. That's when you have to clean the filter. What a mess! There's just no easy way to do it. Cleaning the accordion folds in the filter is a nightmare!

I always take it outside to clean because I don't want all of that dust and mess floating around in my house. I have to use something pointy (I use a chop stick) to get down in filter and get out all of the dust and debris. It's time consuming and not worth it.

Needless to say, I'm DONE with the Eureka Optima Lightweight vacuum and wouldn't recommend it to anyone.

Eureka Optima Lightweight

Desired Features: quiet, but still powerful; attachments included; on/off brush function; low budget; lightweight; bagged vacuum

Pros: quiet; lightweight; on/off brush roll; attachments; low budget

Cons: telescopic wand is a bit too tight for me and I have to strain to keep it stretch and reached out; cord is way too short; bagless

I don't understand the trend in bagless vacuums. If I ever get lice or some other parasite, I don't want to have to mess with emptying the contents and risk releasing into the air what I just vacuumed.

I decided on the Optima while I wait for a bagged vacuum of my dreams to be invented.

Beautiful vacuum cleaner. The Eureka Optima vacuum cleaner is not too big, not too heavy, not too expensive, HEPA filtration, seperate motor for brush, good tools, good suction and well-designed for all-around use. Buy two filters: You can use one as a replacement and vacuum one while using the other. This keeps the suction like new!

It's alright, but the wheels keep falling off!! It is a poor reflection of the Eureka Product line!!!

Eureka Optima troubles

This lightweight vacuum has done a great job... until a wheel fell off and the replacement costs as much as the vacuum itself. Apparently this is a design fault and if your warranty is gone, you're out of luck.
