Filter Queen Princess

I bought a used Filter Queen Princess vacuum for $300 around 2000 and have been using it for 8 years.

Occasionally it has lost power and when I took it in, I learned that I had to replace an inexpensive filter ($8) or have the power head serviced ($22).

It has powerful suction still after all these years. The tools are all stuck on to the canister for easy finding. I strongly recommend it if they even make them any more.

It has the usual drawbacks of a canister - gets caught on corners, heavy to carry, etc.

But I love the bagless can with the reusable cone filters. We buy 10 filters about every 3 years and reuse them 10-20 times each.

The can easily comes off of the base and can be carried to the garbage.

I don't have much to compare it to, but I really like my Filter Queen Princess vacuum cleaner.

Filter Queen is the best

My husband bought a Filter Queen Vacuum cleaner for me in 1974 for about $600, which was A LOT OF MONEY back then. In the mid 90's we began having problems with the motor. The owner of a small independent vacuum shop suggested that he rebuild the motor (at a cost of $95). We agreed and except for that one repair and the replacement of a short connection cord between the hose and the wand, which literally wore out from constant use, that is the only trouble I ever had with the vacuum. As I always told my girls, "it has so much suction it will suck the lips off a chicken". Needless to say, I love it and the way that it cleans. My only concern with it at this point in my life is that it is a very heavy vacuum and at my now "young years old age", I have some trouble hauling it up and down stairs.

I have had my Filter Queen since 1988. It was 1000.00 at the time. I have replaced the power head motor for 40.00, the hose twice, I bought the last one on ebay and they sent me all their extra attachments since their vacuum was swept away in Hurricane Katrina. I bought two extras at garage sales for 5.00 apiece to use for spare parts and last week when it died during use my husband changed the power cord, it evidently had a short in it. I get my filters from Mr. Sweeper and he tells me they make different models every year. I too love this machine, as much as it costs, it better last forever.
