We have two dogs and two cats and after 12 years the Kirby G5 vacuum cleaner still runs great. It was hard to shell out the $900, but no regrets.

Five years ago we bought a second house for work reasons. We didn't want to spend the money for a second Kirby, because the second house has a lot less carpet.

Instead we bought an Electrolux. It is already falling apart and needs to be replaced. I think it cost about $200. My parents have gone through 5 or 6 vacuums (hoovers to bagless) in the last 12 years.
