The small canister has to be emptied often, which may seem time consuming, but since it is emptied often, the suction power stays true.

As a bagless canister vacuum, extra costs aren’t incurred for bags.

Be prepared however, as with any canister vacuum, you’ll still be exposed to some dust when emptying the canister.

It tends to be a bit noisy, but the suction power provided with the variable speed motor can’t be beat for picking up pet hair, dirt and sand from hard surfaces.

Allergies in the family? This Hoover canister vacuum cleaner has allergen trapping bags. The three on-board tools have great power and are best for getting into those hard-to-reach spots.

The tools are meant to be stored on the handle, but they tend to fall off with any movement, so they need to be stored separately. Due to the light weight materials from which the vacuum is manufactured, the wand doesn’t stay upright when stored.

The hose tends to wrap around the canister and hit the off switch which can be frustrating. The belt on this Hoover vacuum canister cleaner tends to pop off frequently. However, when it is in place, the suction works perfectly.

When moving from carpet to a smooth floor or vice-versa, no switches need to be made. Simply turn off the beater bar when moving to a smooth surface and the transition is made seamlessly. Overall, the suction power of the Hoover S3590 Duros is probably worth the small inconveniences.

The Hoover S1361 Portable Canister Vacuum Cleaner

The Hoover S1361 is a great tool for cleaning up pet hair, litter dust, and sand from hard surfaces.

It is ideal for apartments, dorm rooms, or homes with a higher percentage of hard surfaces compared to carpet. This canister vacuum is compact in size for easy storage and has a complete set of tools conveniently located on board.

However, the tool storage isn’t designed well and the tools tend to fall off. Although this Hoover canister vacuum cleaner has both a floor and a carpet setting, don’t expect too much when it is used on carpet.

It doesn’t have enough suction power to truly clean carpeting. However, on the low setting, it does work well on rugs with fringes.

Rugs with fringe have been known to burn out traditional vacuum motors with repeated use. The dusting brush, in conjunction with the low suction setting, is great for cleaning Venetian blinds, books, lampshades, baseboards and lighting fixtures.

The crevice tool is convenient for tight spaces such as between your refrigerator and wall, corners and smaller areas like inside dresser drawers. The bags for this canister vacuum are inexpensive, but to date, can only be found on the Hoover website.

The bags do seem to do a good job of catching the dust which is a benefit to those who suffer from dust allergies. A small, powerful, portable canister vacuum, this Hoover S1361vacuum is great for hard surface floors and cleaning up after pets.
