Hoover in General

by Steve
(New York)

I have a 2 year old Hoover vacuum. I've been very satisfied with its cleaning and ease of use.

I did some research before buying my machine. However, what I have found is there are no reviews on durability or the company themselves! What happened to Hoover!

I've had multiple items break on the machine and it has been a headache after headache. Now I've been waiting for a switch for 2 months that is on back order (this is a 2 year old machine not 20 year old).

I've been in touch with multiple service centers and get the same answer from them all. Apparently I'm not the only one having problems with durabilty and getting parts.

At 2 different service centers I went to (whom repair all brands) I saw dozens of Hoover vacuums lined waiting weeks for parts(and other common brands). None of these review web sites test durablity or company quality. Only cleaning power.

I recomend talking to a local vac repair store before buying any machine. Be sure to ask them what commonly malfunctions and how long it takes to get a part!

Or what companies are willing to back what they produce! Hoover obviously does not!

Thanks for sharing, Steve.

I agree that durability is most of the times a feature not tested. The reason is simple: someone would have to use the vacuum for a long time to get some results.

Review websites and magazines may use a vacuum just a few times to test it and they never come close to measuring durability.

That's why I really appreciate every submission on this website from a "real user" who has put their Hoover vacuum or any other vacuum cleaner through many months of work.

Only then can we get a realistic vacuum cleaner review based on a long term use.

Hoover deluxe elite rewind
by: Anonymous

I am so fed up with buying vacuum cleaners. I'm onto my 4th in 4 years and every single one has failed abysmally after only a few months' use.

This time I thought I would rely on Hoover's reputation....but that's all it is , past reputation.

I have a Deluxe Elite Rewind. If this is the " deluxe" I would hate to see a "standard".
It is extremely heavy but not durable, parts have stopped working after a couple of months, I've had to change the belt twice, it's already been to the repair shop and the stupid thing still doesn't actually suck up dirt and dust effectively.

Steer clear of Hoover until they revert to their old standards of providing customers with decent quality appliances.

And if anyone knows of a vacuum cleaner that actually is built to do the job , I would love to know what it is.
