Hoover Wind Tunnel 2 U8361-950

by Dexter Carlin
(York, Pa.)

After three (3) months of use the Hepa filter clogged completely and the vaccum stopped working. We took it to an "authorized" repair station and they said that this is normal for this vacuum.

He said "the Hepa filter is supposed to collect dust and dump it back into the dust cup". But that never happens and thus the filter just clogs.

The repairman also said he has had many of these in for the same problem. He said you have two options... clean the Hepa regularly or replace it every two or three months at a cost of $ 20 - $40.
I have bought my last Hoover!

Cylinder HEPA filter
by: Anonymous

I have had my windtunnel vacum for a little over a year. I was very pleased with it initally, but the filter needs work. I have been very diligent in keeping it clean and blowing it out on a regular basis. However, it should not be advertised as though the filter never needed to be replaced. We have removed this filter but had to basically take the entire vacum apart to get it out. This filter appears to be made of some type of cardboard, and it was filthy even though we cleaned it often by blowing it out. I am currently on the hunt for a new filter. Thus far it appears to be a difficult hunt.

Did anyone at Hoover test this thing?
by: Anonymous

Our neighbor bragged about her wind tunnel 1, so when the wind tunnel 2 came out, I bought it. The filter clogged up and the vacuum quit picking up, so I took it back to the store and they replaced it with a new one. I have found out that every time I empty the dirt, I also need to clean the "self-cleaning" Hepa filter. I usually use a screwdriver to rake out the dirt, but have also used an air compressor and another vacuum. I think Hoover should issue a recall and replace these vacuums with a more user-friendly model!! My wife asked me if I have to clean the filter each time. You do if you want it to work! It seems odd that you need another vacuum to clean the Wind Tunnel 2. Were the Hoover engineers "out to lunch"?? I don't see how they can be very proud of this vacuum.

same problem
by: Anonymous

I just had the same problem, the hepa filter clogged creating an entire list of problems. I took it to an authorized dealer and he said...it's always happening and he wouldn't recommend this to anybody! I will not buy this brand again. By the time I am done paying for repairs, not covered under the warantee, I will have paid enough to have owned a top of the line vacuum. This was a complete waste of money! The company should be ashamed!

hoover wind tunel is junk
by: Anonymous

I agree with the last posting. After 3 or 4 months of dealing with a hepa filter that was more of a dust mop then a filter it has now been retired to the basement. What a pile of junk I invested in. I have now had to replace the vac with a new one as the hepa filter no longer spins. I bought the Wind Tunel I and it works wonderful. The filter is easy to change and it doesn't clog like the other vac. Now if only I could get a refund on the other one.
