Kirbys are no better than the $100 vacuum from Walmart!!!

What a waste of money! Their salespeople pressure you way to much! I had a girl in my house who would not leave for 3 1/2 hours!

I had to go to work and the product... you might as well go buy a $100 vacuum at Walmart, it does the same.

I think I am going to buy a Rainbow - the reviews are great for that vacuum!

Kirby with the shampooer

i hate it it cost so much over 1000. i have never used the attachments and its so heavy it can't be maneuvered and really hurts my back. Tried to sell it or trade it in got offered 75.00 on a trade in...it sucks up the dust fine but its such a hassle.

Don't pay more than $1000!

Kirby is one of the most disrespectful companies I have ever met!!!! Came to my house, very nice and offered vacuum with everything for 1300.00 then I gave names and brother in law got offered it for 1000.00 then went to my mothers and said the lowest they could go was 1800.00 and I unfortunately did not inform my mother of the offer they paid that price, and DON'T BUY A KIRBY!!!!! and if you do don't pay more they 1,000.00 for it!!!!!

I hate my KIRBY. I got it because I had a stroke and it seemed like it would vacuum easier then most. It does go easier but now it will not pick up the smallest item. I'm only wasting my time using it.

No sales fight for the Kirby Sentria

After receiving the call ( maybe the 25th try by the call center) I finally had time for the Kirby ( sub-contractor) rep to come into my home and demo the unit. Also my agreeing to this was that they would clean one room/carpeted.

A younger man came. Nice enough. Did a very good demo. Cleaned the carpet which appeared to be cleaner before he started.

I first used my Oreck and then my Fanthom ( not made any longer) in the same area. Then the Kirby.
The demo showed that the Kirby was able to get more dirt vs the other two.

I wonder if the other two, used first brought up the bottom dirt which now the kirby snother up. Don't know for sure. In any case I did see a lot of adverse comments on the Web about their sales approach. As I'm also in sales and did my homework prior to their visit I felt armed for price battle.

Being Oct. and just before the holiday season I first hit the rep with the thought that this was a hard time for selling a $2,000 unit. Also the economy must be seeing down sales.

W/O batting a eye, or word in this case the rep. suggested a cost of $700 plus $100 for him. Note ( I bought - wrote 2 checks- one to Kirby and one to the rep. for his $100). So I bought the demo mod. w/ all attachments for $800 and he did my 12 X 28 family rm. carpet.

As it was I wanted a new vacum and kirby does have a good reputation. I was ready for a sales fight, in fact I was looking forward to it but one never transpired.

Sure the rep's usual comments mashing the other machines I had did get added in along the way but the kid was nice enough.

I suppose I would have bought the kirby sentria in any case. He made it a little easier. However if he was the sort which had read about no sale would have been made. Also one of his comments was that some folks just responded re the free cleaning.

Well Mr. Kirby, if you don't think some will take you up on the free cleaning w/o a purchase don't be surprised.

Maybe you should have a part of your company that just does carpet cleaning. After the client becomes comfortable w/ your service they then would buy a machine.

I still feel the unit is over priced but if the company stand behind their warranty it will be worth the cost.
