Looking for a dependable, quiet canister vacuum either bagless or bagged

I need a new vacuum and am in a the process of reading all the reports I can find. This is the first I've seen on bag versus bagless.

I currently have an upright Bissell bagless and completely agree that the cleaning process is disgusting. I am looking for a canister vacuum now.

What would you say are the better canister vacuums. I'm concerned with getting lots of suction, large capacity holding container, quiet, and staying power because I don't want to have to purchase another one anytime soon.

Thank you for any information you could provide!

Bagged Canister Vacuum
by: Chris from GoVacuum

Hello,

I would highly recommend that you consider a bagged canister vacuum over bagless. Not only is the emptying process extremely messy on a bagless machine, but also the life expectancy of most bagless vacuums is about half as long as their bagged counterparts.

Usually bagless vacuums rely on a cartridge HEPA filter to protect the motor from being exposed to dust and debris. These pre-motor filters will become dirty after the first time you vacuum with them, even if you replace, or clean them after every vacuuming.

As soon as the filter gets clogged with dirt, this makes the motor of the vacuum work much harder to try and vacuum through the existing dirt on the filter. Bagless vacuums motors will run hotter, and not last as long because of this. While this can also happen to a bagged machine if you continue to run the vacuum with a full bag, it happens much quicker on a bagless machine.

That being said, from what you explained that you are looking for in a canister vacuum, I would highly recommend a Miele Canister Vacuum for you. These machines are the quietest vacuums on the market today, and the motors inside of them, a 1200W German made Vortex motor, typically last between 15-20 years.

They make several different models, ranging from the entry level model, the Miele S2 Olympus which is perfect if you have all bare surface floors, to models that include the electric power nozzles, such as the Miele S5281 Callisto vacuum cleaner that includes an electrical power nozzle, which is designed for homes that have wall to wall carpeting.

I hope this helped you,
