Looking for a light-weight vacuum for carpets

by Andrea
(Forst Hills NY)

We have two large, dark, deep pile wall-to-wall carpets, and a white dog. Our regular vacuum is very heavy, and uses bags.

We would like something very light in a low to medium price range. Can you give us some choices?

Don't give up your bag vacuum
by: Anonymous

I gave mine up and bought a Bissel bagless
was highly recommended I am only 5'9 and fairly
strong.......after you use the Bissel if you
can last through 2 rooms of carpet you feel
like you need to take a nap and eat a steak
to be able to function again.

I never got this tired using my old bag Eureka
Why did I throw it away?????????

The Bissel is a filthy piece of crap!
You have to clean several sections 3 filters
and the trap collection it sucks

Stay With a Bagged Vacuum
by: Chris from GoVacuum

I realize how the temptation of not having to purchase vacuum bags may be to hard to resist, however you are much better in the long run to continue to use a bagged vacuum. Most people that go to a bagless vacuum hate it (like the comment above), and go back to a bagged model.

The bagged model will last longer, and filter better then a bagged one will. The money that you save on buying vacuum bags will be easily overtaken by the costly filters on most bagless vacuums.

For homes with mostly carpets, and pet hair, I would highly recommend that you try out the Smart Choice Carpet Pro Vacuum Cleaners, and specifically the Carpet Pro CPU-1 or the Carpet Pro CPU-1T.

The difference between these two is that the CPU-1T has on board attachments, while the CPU-1 does not have them on the vacuum. The CPU-1 is going to be lighter weight then the Carpet Pro CPU-1T, so this may be a better option for you since you are looking for light weight.

Carpet Pro CPU-1T
These machines are really made to last for a very long time, and have metal components where most every other vacuum uses plastic, including the roller brush, handle, and bottom plate. The metal roller brush is an excellent weapon in the never ending battle against pet hair.

The Carpet Pro vacuums eat pet hair for breakfast! The floating head design of the machine allows for it to clean any type of carpeting, but the vacuum really excels on cleaning deep, plush carpeting like yours.

When purchasing the Carpet Pro from GoVacuum, you will automatically get a 60 day in-home trial period where you can try the vacuum out in your own home, on your own dog hair. If you're not 100% completely satisfied with the vacuum cleaner, you may return it to GoVacuum within 60 days for a full refund, no restocking fee's, or shipping charges will be deducted, and GoVacuum will even pay for your return shipping back!

Remain with BAGS!

I would suggest a SAMSUNG 5490M bagged Upright. Google this vacuum and model number. I used to sell these uprights, and they are very light, user friendly and powerful. They are very affordable and a great performer on removing pet hair. Go and test one out .
