Miele White Star

We purchased our Miele White Star vacuum in 2002, it wasn't cheap but we thought we were buying quality. Well it was not a great purchase, it has basically fallen apart.
The plastic piece on the end of the wand required for attachments split about 2 yrs ago. We held it together with duct tape and a hose clamp.
Next the plastic slide that opens to reduce air flow on the carpet tool had to be taped to keep it closed. Finally the plastic collar that connects the hose to the vacuum let go so we can no longer use the vacuum.
Meanwhile our old dependable Kenmore is still going after 25 years! We probably paid way too much for the Miele White Star ($499.00) but we had high hopes.
The vacuum has not been abused, the plastic parts just were not engineered well and are too expensive to replace.
Personally we would not purchase another Miele product although "planned obsolence" is probably used on most products today.
