My Oreck XL

My oreck xl is about 12 years old. Still working, i love it.

Very light weight. I have a lot of tile it gets all the dust and I have two dogs.

My carpet stays clean too. My mother is 70 and I will buy her one also.

You will not be disappointed. I am looking at the gold.

The Oreck XL is very lightweight and unfortunately very cheaply made. They offer a tune up for the first 3 years, along with a three-year warranty. The problem with the warranty is that it is VERY limited and based on the store representative's opinion, which translates into nothing being covered.

The cord is "heavy duty" and terrible, resulting in the internal cable twisting and becoming impossible to straighten out. We went to the Turnersville, NJ store and spoke with the store "sales man" Chris, who told us that after one year of use, it would take, a minimum of $100 to "repair/tune up" the vacuum.

We had planned to purchase a canister vacuum that day, but after being "very poorly" treated by the sales man, who was clearly trying to "up sell" repair products, we left the store with our vacuum. After calling customer service, their policy was restated and I can warn anyone thinking about OREK, to BEWARE, it will wind up costing you and expect to have a sales person tell you that you do not speak the truth in order to justify "up selling" to make their commission.

PS Why do you give negative ratings 5 stars? I would rate the ORECK XL and the service including "free?" tuneups and warranty as, * "one star.
