Oreck XL vacuum

My Oreck XL vacuum cleaner is 15 plus years old. We provide routine maintenance and have had it professionally serviced once.

The XL still works just as it did when I bought it! It has outlasted 2 very hairy dogs (for whom it was originally purchased), and one husband... so far!!!

It suffered years of vicious attacks from an Australian Shepherd and is currently being assaulted (on a regular basis) by an energetic 2 year old Labradoodle.

Well, you get the picture... it has not been babied and it is still going strong!

I just pruchased a new Oreck it say USA all over the box but in very very fine print it says Made in China.

I LOVED MY ORECK - Buying another one...

I bought my first upright Oreck about 10 years ago - lost custody in a recent divorce :(

I used to buy vacuum after vacuum at Wal-Mart, Sears, etc., and had to replace them about every 6 months or so. I finally decided to try the Oreck and never-ever had to buy another vacuum. I had 6 kids, 2 dogs, and 2 cats, so you know I was using it every day! Yes, I had to take it in a couple of times - once for general cleaning, and once to replace the roller. It was easy to unclog (happend more often than usual because of all the pet hair). I loved it so much, and was sorry to leave it behind...BUT....now I'm getting a new one and am so excited!

This is the third Oreck I've owned. They never wear out!!! I just needed another one upstairs. They're very light weight and powerful. No bending down to pick up thread, etc that other vacuums miss!!!

I'm sold on this brand!!!

I am ashamed to admit it ,but I have 2 of these very over priced Oreck XL machines.

The bags are difficult to get on and even more difficult to get to stay on.

The motors overheat quickly, even on average height carpet, causing the belt to melt and break. Check yours, I'll bet it's broken. Yeah it still sucks, but it is not correct.

I spoke to their rep, and was told they expect you to have to replace the belt every 6 months.

Take my advise, and pass on this turkey. The only good thing is they are light, so throwing them away doesn't take as much effort.

Bought this vacuum in 1/05 and paid $987. Had it serviced numerous times and still no satisfaction. It powers off and on while trying to use it. I can't tell if it will work or not.

So I even bought an old used vacuum (Kenmore). It works when I need it to and I'm sorry now I even bought this Oreck vacuum cleaner.

If you want to break your back and still end up with a dirty carpet get an Oreck XL. It is the worst vacuum cleaner I ever had Try pushing a tractor trailer around. I suggest you run the opposite way from the oreck. Terrible waste of money. energy and time. No adjustments, no attachments.

I am disappointed with the performance of this Oreck XL vacuum cleaner. It does not pick up the dog hair as well as they claim and the belt breaks often or slips off the roller brush. The bag does not hold enough before the performance dwindles considerably even when the bag is only a third full.

I purchased my wife her Oreck 12 years ago. When she found out how much I paid, she told me she was going to beat me to death with it when it arrived. It has lasted 4 moves, two different dogs, three cats, two kids, and me. We replaced a motor 6 years ago, I replaced the metal thingy and the brush, and it still runs strong. My sister laughed at me when I bought it, but she ended up buying one six years later after going through 4 of the "best rated" vacuums. So, now on our upcoming 13 year anniversary of Oreck use, I will buy my wife a new one. And again, it ill begin it's life as a weapon.

Oh, they send you a canister vac because there aren't attachments. None of our friends, when speaking frankly, use the attachments after a few weeks anyway.

Bought the Oreck XL vacuum 1 yr ago and so far I have had 2 Belts changed a new motor and roller brush replaced. Paid $500.00 and regretting every penny spent. I watched the Infomercials on Oreck numerous times and was sure that this was the vacuun for me and could that it could possibly last many years. Due to allergies I wanted what I thought was the best.

Now 1 yr later here I am with a $500.00 refurbished vacuum. I have a 4yr old $40.00 Bissell that I think has more power and capabilities then the Oreck.

I asked about returning it but the answer was NO.
Not sure I can take no for an answer.
