Oreck XL2

I hate this vacuum. I bought the Oreck XL2 five years ago and if I hadn't paid $500 for it, I would have gotten rid of it a long time ago.

It does an alright job picking up dirt, but there are no attachments to get behind stuff or under stuff and dirt leaks out around the bag and is a mess to change as well as being difficult to do. It seems cheaply made and crappy.

The small hand held one I got "free" with it also does alright picking up dirt, but is very awkward to use. I will never buy another Oreck!

Oreck XL2
by: CG

After 2 years my Oreck XL2 vacuum cleaner started giving me problems. While still under warranty, I took it to get repaired, but after a few times using it, it began not picking-up. I have not used it for about a year and went to Walmart and purchased a small Hoover which works better than the $400.00 that I spent on the Oreck. I'm very disappointed in it.

Oreck XL 2

This is our second Oreck product and is certain to be the last. We have had to replace the roller-brush @ least twice a year, the outer bag falls off frequently {fun mess to clean up}, the handle broke off at the point where it connects to the lower half of the vacuum.

While I recognize the roller-brush should not be covered under the warranty, I do think the bag and the handle should be. When we took the Oreck XL 2 vacuum back to the local dealer they indicated the outer bag and the handle are not covered. We called corporate and they said they leave that up to their dealers ?

So do this: take an empty box and write guarantee on the outside of the box in very elaborate lettering, with lots of color and hype... What do you have ? A nice package with the assurance of a guarantee that is empty ....

Oreck xl2 ultra
by: Gregg

Most overrated vacuum cleaner ever. Bought brand new Oreck xl2 ultra in 2003. We haven't used it in years because got tired of replacing belts and brushes.

Also the Oreck store near me closed within a year of buying it, the next closest one is 50 miles away. Had to take it to a vacuum repair shop to replace the brush and bearings and in a year or so later the bearings on the brush needed replacing again. Stay away from Oreck.

Oreck XL2

This is the worst vacuum I have ever owned. I believe it would be more effective for me to lick the carpet clean. Sure, it's lightweight, but that doesn't matter if it doesn't do its job. I first realized it wasn't cleaning well when my carpet started to get that worn look.

When I was finally able to purchase a new vacuum, it filled the canister 3 times with all the stuff that the Oreck left behind. I was very disappointed because it was a very expensive vacuum. Don't buy any Oreck vacuum. They are a rip off!

XL2
by: Nelson

The Oreck XL2 vacuum is OK but it is [way] over priced. It is very noisy and lacks a hose w/ nozzle to use on furniture and to access tight places. Whomever designed this machine put the brackets for winding up the electric cord on opposite sides of the machine. It is extremely inconvenient. It has good suction but that bad boy sounds like a 747 revving up for take off.
Not a bad machine but there are too many negatives.

When I purchased the Oreck approximately two years ago I paid extra for a couple of options one of which was a periodic "tune up". I stopped into the Oreck store several days ago I advised the owner/salesman (the same one who sold me the product) that I had lost the paper work somewhere along the line. I was advised that they do not keep any records and with out the paper work I would have to pay for the "tune up" myself. Sounds like a humbug.

ARE YOU KIDDING ME?
by: KDJOHN1

TODAY I FOUND AN ORECK XL2 IN SOMEONE'S GARBAGE.
I GOT IT THINKING "WHAT'S THE WORST THAT COULD BE WRONG WITH IT. IF I CAN'T FIX IT, I'LL JUST PUT IT BACK OUT FOR THE GARBAGE."
I GOT IT HOME, PLUGGED IT IN, AND IT WORKED GREAT.
WAY BETTER THAN THE $200 DIRT DEVIL I GOT AS A WEDDING PRESENT 5 YEARS AGO.
NO, IT'S NOT FANCY WITH A BUNCH OF ATTACHMENTS. BUT IT PICKS UP HAIR AND THREAD THAT STICKS TO CARPET.
WHOEVER WROTE THE REVIEW CHASTISING IT SOUNDS LIKE A PRIMA DONNA.
I LOVE IT. AND TO THINK, I FOUND IT IN THE GARBAGE WITHOUT EVEN A SCRATCH ON IT.

The Oreck XL2 - great upright vacuum
by: Lisa

I have nothing but praise for the Oreck upright vacuum cleaners. I am on my second one as the first one was about 8 years old and we needed one for my husband's deer camp house, so I decided to let him have that one and I bought another one, the Oreck XL2. That should say something as I was so pleased with the first one that I returned to it again. Again, I have been very pleased with this vacuum.

I have 2 cats, one being a long haired cat, and this vacuum is efficient for our needs. I'm also a neat freak, so if I say it's good...trust me, it's good :-) Also, Oreck vacuum cleaners are one of (if not the only) vacuum cleaner that is made here in the USA.

I like supporting our country and try to buy products made here. They've never taken their product to be manufactured by cheap labor and don't use cheap parts and it shows up in this vacuum as it is the best of quality. I HIGHLY recommend the Oreck upright vacuums.
