Original Rexair (now Rainbow)

by Kathleen McIntee
(Spokane, WA)

I have been using a Rexair (now Rainbow) for about 44 years. I will not use any other.

I was introduced to the Rexair by my landlord who offered me one to clean the cute garage apartment my husband and I first rented after our marriage and move to Tacoma, Washington. She had an antique one. When I got back to Louisiana I searched out a reconditioned one.

My husband and I had allergies and this was like injecting fresh air into your home. I could put aromas in the water and I never ever wanted to use anything else. My husband went to the Thrift stores and seeked out Rexairs that had been discarded and he rejunvenated them and gave them to our children to use as adults.

What an experience and what a great suggestion that kind person in Tacoma made to me in 1964.

All Rainbow vacuum cleaners
by: Thomas

My parents bought a Rainbow vacuum cleaner about 25 years ago at the price of $1,200. Yes that was a lot of money back then and still is today.

The great thing is the machine STILL WORKS and if you calculate the initial price over the life of the machine, you can see the cost is only $48 per year, $4 per month or $1 per week. Do you have anything 25 years old that still works like it did when new?

The new Rainbow is now $2,300. So it has not doubled in price like most other things but it has more than doubled in value with the new motor, new powerhead and air puifier/asthma and allergy friendly certifications. Now if the new Rainbow only lasts 25 years like the old one (it is projected to last 35-40) then the costs of ownership is only $92 per year, $7.67 a month or $1.92 a week! So ANYBODY can afford one.

That what is so great with the Rainbow! I do sell them for a living but I can tell you I was sold on them way before I started selling them as I am only 33 and used one growing up.

Best money I ever spent
by: Anonymous

I purchased my vacuum about 20+++ years ago. I have never had a problem other than probably a couple belts in all that time. I have had other vacuums that either didn't last, or didn't clean after the bags got partially filled. The rainbow is like putting in a new bag every time you change the water.

I can clean a room by vacuuming the floor last after polishing, and there is no dust flying thru the air that redeposits itself onto my dark pine country furniture.

The vacuum will also pick up wet messes !! It was great when the kids were small & spilled their drinks - but then we wised up & just started to just let the dog lick it up.

The vacuum is light and that is a huge issue for me as I've gotten older. Plus it is low enough that it goes under furniture for the most part. I had previously tried an upright and returned it as that was out of the question with all the furniture I stuff into the rooms.

The only drawback that I can honestly say is that it is more trouble to get it out, fill it with water, and then empty and wash/dry it out when I'm done that a bag or wind tunnel type cleaner. So for small everyday cleanup, I use a cheap $39 stick vacuum and then get the rainbow out for the weekly cleaning.

If this vacuum doesn't outlast me, I'll be shopping for another the day it's out of commission !!! It's lasted thru five kids and as many dogs and three cats ... Best money I ever spent !!!

Thank you for an excellent product !!!
