Rainbow purchased in 1999

by leon de vos

The Rainbow vacuum cleaner worked well but the motor needed to be replaced after 7 years.

Now it needs to be replaced again which I think is very expensive and not worth the money because rainbow only give 6 year guarantee on their motors.

27 year old Rainbow
by: Anonymous

We have had the same Rainbow for 27 years, with only minor repairs/replacement parts. Motor finally burned up because cleaning woman left water in basin with motor sealed on top for 2 weeks.

Rainbow Purchased in 1999

I bought my first Rainbow in 1971. My first wife received in the Divorce degree. The motor died with 18 months. I had bought a second one and when my second wife and I went overseas (I was in the military) my new Mother-in-Law used it. it was trash by the time we got back. What Rainbow does not tell you, is that when not in use, the motor canot be sitting on the water container. Some have been known to leave the dirty water in it until the next time it is used. The evaporation/moisture gets past the separator and corrodes the motor. Hopes this helps.

Rainbow Series E bought in 1999

I also bought my Rainbow in 1999 and after six years the motor went out. The warranty on the motor is 8 years so it was replaced for free. Now after 5 years the motor has gone out again and the warranty on the replaced motor is only 1 year so i have to cough up close to $400 to have it replaced. Ouch. I love my Rainbow but I don't want to pay this every 5 years or so.
