Roomba Vacuum Cleaner is one of the first names that spring to mind when you are talking about next generation of vacuum cleaners.
Developed by the iRobot Corporation Roomba is one of the most intelligent gadgets you would ever come across.
Featuring iRobot’s AWARE Robot Intelligence Systems, Roomba is a very intelligent and effective vacuum cleaner.
There are numerous sensors on Roomba to make sense of the environment it is in and AWARE helps to adjust Roomba’s behavior up to 67 times a minute, so that it can carry out its tasks properly. It is intelligent, efficient and safe.
Roomba vacuum cleaner uses a 3 stage cleaning system.
To clean along the walls Roomba uses a spinning side brush; for the larger debris there are two counter rotating brushes; and of course there is the vacuum which picks up all the dirt and debris.
It is twice as effective as an upright vacuum. However the price is about half of what some upright vacuums may be costing.
Because of its compact shape, the Roomba can reach almost anywhere.
And it is generally those places which are difficult to reach which gather the most dust.

Roomba vacuum cleaner runs on rechargeable battery but the best thing about it is that you don’t have to remember to recharge it.
Roomba does it by itself. At the end of every cleaning mission or when its battery is running low Roomba will automatically return to its Home Base to recharge.
Roomba comes with an infrared receiver and the Home Base emits signals which are caught by Roomba’s receiver. Once a cleaning mission is over, Roomba looks for the signal and goes back to recharge itself. Again it is ready for its next cleaning mission.
Roomba vacuum cleaner is so intelligent that it can actually identify dirtier areas and clean it with much more intensity. It has sensors located just above its brushes to detect the dirt and if it thinks an area needs extra cleaning it will get the job done.
The infrared technology also keeps Roomba falling off cliffs. Basically, Roomba continuously emits beams in front of it and if the beam doesn’t come back it realizes that a cliff is approaching and immediately alters its route.
The same technology is used in cleaning walls and furniture. If the infrared signal emitted does bounce back then Roomba immediately understand that it is near a wall or furniture and accordingly adjusts it cleaning behavior. This helps it to effectively clean against walls and furniture.
You can create Virtual Walls for Roomba which it won’t cross.
The infrared sensor would receive the signals emitted by the Virtual Wall and will not allow Roomba to cross over to the other side.
