Shark APL 1172 Rechargeable

by Ginger
(Yorba Linda, CA)

I am now on my third Shark rechargeable vacuum and while I keep buying them because I like them when they work.

However, it always ends up the same way. The usable time after charge gets less and less, then inevitably stops working all together.

Very frustrating! Lucky if I get a whole year's use.

I love the convenience for quick clean ups, especially on bare floors, but this time I'll buy a different brand. That's what I'm looking for today.

shark cordless
by: suec

My shark worked wonderful for a couple of years but now only the lights blink and it won't run. I love this little thing but think it is a gonner and I can't do anything to fix it. It's charged, clean and won't run. Do I buy another or buy a new one from another manufacturer? That's the dilemma.

yeah, the shark website sucks...but if you look at the bottom of your vac it lists the battery part number..put that into the website search and it will showthe battery and price. OR..JUST TYPE THE PART #INTO YOUR SEARCH BOX AND SOMETHING WILL COME UP FROM SOMEWHERE. BC

shark website sucks
by: Anonymous

just finished with the shark website. yesterday i bought a new shark as the old ones batteries are flagging and i could not locate a new one at the website, it kept telling me the part was not available. then today i tried again..same thing...but there is a place on the website to talk directly with a customer service person. who ever it was said the battery is not available on line but i could order it from the the number on the owners manual..$19.95. 18007987398. i might try it. hate to throw the old one away...nothing wrong a new battery wouldnt cure. i could use it upstairs. i do wonder why shark has a website to order parts when they are not available. seems pretty stupid to me..if i could find another unit which worked i'd buy it instead. next time i will try harder to find another company who makes it easy to deal with them..

Help - Need A Charger
by: Anonymous

I have a Shark Rechargeable Vacuum but managed to throw away the charger during Christmas cleaning. Does anyone have a charger for a Shark Model V1950 -- it states on the bottom of the vacuum to only use a charger #KA12D1200150230 which I have not been able to find anywhere including their website.
Thanks in advance for any help. email me at fueliedave@comcast.net

Shark Positive Solution
by: Anonymous

I have had my same shark for 4 1/2 years and just 3 months ago did I have to buy a new battery for it. Works like a champ. I never followed their advice and I left my unit charging at all times until needed and then placed back on the charger. If you need any replacement parts go to this website

www.sharkclean.com

Hope it works out for you.

Not to be plugged in
by: Anonymous

I didn't know that the manual said the unit should not be plugged in when not in use. I leave mine plugged in. No problems so far.

So far.... My advice would be to not let the unit run the batteries totally flat.

I'll let you know if it catches on fire or melts. Till then good luck.

Leave the Vac plugged in
by: Stephen

Aloha,

If you want to make your rechargable batteries last you need to not let them go totally flat.

Leave the unit plugged in whenever you are not using it.

Good luck

Bad Company
by: Ginger

Are you crazy? Why would you want a charger that doesn't work? Don't you get it that I've had 3 that all went bad. Not only that, there is no way to cantact Shark. Every phone number related to them is a dead end. I can not even pay for a new battery because I can't find them. This sneaky manufacturer is not to be trusted if you can not find them to talk to.
