Should I buy the Cirrus Riccar vacuum?

by Sandy
(USA)

I am looking at purchasing a "Cirrus" vacuum. My understanding is that the company used to be Bernina (the sewing machine people)

The $400 model seems to be a great one, any information? Also, I was recently told that 'eventually' all of the see thru canisters that trap the dirt will eventually leak; so to stay with a bag? Any comment?

Your help is appreciated - $400 is a lot of money to me!

Are you referring to the new Cirrus vacuum with Riccar bags and a HEPA filter? Based on consumer reviews that you can find in the Internet, it is a very good vacuum cleaner.

It's ergonomic and can suction all kinds of dirt and dust that are in your carpets, upholstery, and bare floors. You would not feel any air coming out of the vacuum, and it's equipped with a very special motor created by Ametek.

Rather than allow suctioned particles to go out of the vacuum cleaner, they are directed to the filter. You also have several tools and accessories that you can use together with it, so you can have more convenient cleaning.

The only issue that you need to think about is the bag. A Riccar bag can cost around $15 each, and since it only has very small capacity, you'll be purchasing a number of them every month.

Hence, you may have to set aside a good amount for the maintenance costs of your vacuum cleaner.

Love My Cirrus
by: Sandy

I went ahead and purchased the Cirrus Riccar vacuum, and I Love It! It is quiet, does a great job and the attachment for tools reaches a very long way.

I clean house for another family and they own a Oreck-I hate that thing! It may be light weight,..but other than that, there is certainly nothing special about it-I won't go on about all the reasons I don't like it-..

The Cirrus also has an option that lets me contoll how much power (intake) to use.

There are other bags you can purchase that work great and are less expensive, so don't let the cost of bags scare you off.

I am very pleased that I made this investment!

I HATE THIS VACUUM!

I bought a Cirrus Professional Grade vacuum in early May (2009) when my Kirby bit the dust. I was told by the salesperson that the Cirrus was better for hard floors than the Kirby...so I bought it as I have a lot of ceramic tile. What a mistake! The Cirrus is horrible on floors...especially ceramic. I have a cat and there's always cat litter in the grout. The Cirrus does NOT pick it up when it's on "floor" mode (where the floor brush doesn't spin). Even on the regular mode with the brush spinning, most of the time is just kicks the kitty litter to a new spot. I brought it back after three days and they told me that they don't give refunds!...so they gave me a standard floor brush attachment to put on the wand. The vacuum isn't really set up to roll around behind you to use it like a canister vac so it's a real pain. When I complained about the vac not getting the cat litter out of the tile grout I was told that another customer had complained of the same thing! And it stinks on hardwood floors too. It just really doesn't pick things up. It's great on carpet though. Maybe I just got a "sucky" model (no pun intended!) but I would never waste my money on a Cirrus again. Be forewarned if you have grout lines!!!!!!!!!!!!

Cirrus Upright Vacuum

Hi Everybody, First all I would like to clear up a few mistakes on the vacuum wizards review.

Cirrus is not a Riccar vacuum. Riccar is a USA manufactured vacuum owned by the Tacony Corporation.

The Cirrus is made in Taiwan and distributed by Essco Corporation.

Bags for the Cirrus are not $15.00 a bag. And Cirrus has their own bags. Hypo Allergenic for the cirrus 6 pk can costs anywhere from $11.99 to $14.99. Paper Bags cost $11.99 for a 12 pk.

Secondly, all uprights with unboard tools have a side intake at the head. So none of these types of vacuums will be good for barefloors, unless you
get an extension hose, 15 ft. a set of wands and a barefloor tool. This is what we sell with the Cirrus vacuum.
Cirrus Vacuums have lots of power and come with metal rollers, metal bottom plates and are awesome for pet hair. Check out the Cirrus Pet Edition. This thing will put the Dyson Animal to Shame!
If you want to know more, email chanvac@live.com I am happy to assist.
