What is the best valued vacuum for long haired cat fur!?

by Christopher Reichert
(Hurst, TX)

I have three cats, two are long haired red/white. My current cheapo doesn't even get the surface fur!

I have hardwood throughout, just 2 area rugs, so I don't want to invest a fortune, but I need a vacuum that can handle the job.

Best Valued Vacuum Cleaner For Long Haired Cat Fur
by: Chris from GoVacuum

For your home with mostly all hardwood floors, and just 2 rugs, a canister vacuum cleaner is highly recommend. With the pet hair problem, a canister vacuum cleaner with an electrical power nozzle is even more recommended for you. Pet hair is a never-ending battle. You really need to have a motorized brush to loosen the pet hair from the rugs, especially with the long hair your cat has.

For your home I would highly recommend the Miele S2120 Delphi Canister Vacuum Cleaner This model is excellent on picking up pet hair on low piled carpets and rugs, and the power head that is included with this model is really designed with area rugs in mind. What's even nicer is that you can transistion from your hardwood floors to your area rugs with the flip of a switch on the hose, you don't even have to change attachment heads when going back and forth. This is a huge time saver and is extremely convenient.

You really do get what you pay for in the vacuum industry. At least in most cases. Examples of not getting what you pay for in a vacuum are Oreck & Dyson vacuums. These vacuum cleaners have so much advertising built into the vacuum cleaner, they've taken what should be a $150-$200 vacuum and turned into a $500+ vacuum through all the advertisements. You the consumer are the one who gets to pay for that advertising.

The Miele S2 Delphi may be more expensive then other brands, but what you get is a world class German made vacuum cleaner that typically lasts 20-25 years. You would go through 7 or more Bissell vacuums in that period, so in the long run it's actually cheaper to buy a quality vacuum, and it's going to be easier for you to clean, and make vacuuming a lot less stressful of a task.

The Miele Delphi doesn't come packaged from Germany with the HEPA Filter included, but it can be purchased separately and installed in the vacuum cleaner. The HEPA filter is beneficial for homes with pets, as it contains a layer of active charcoal which helps eliminate pet odors. Even without the HEPA filter, the Miele Delphi is still going to filter much better then most other vacuums on the market.

I hope that this information was helpful to you.
